VGGS Mentorship Program

Mentorship is a practice that is highly esteemed by the girls in VGGS. The inception of this program was in 2015. Collaboration with Dandelion Africa has enabled us to train 45 girls annually. The training enables the mentors to use the skills acquired to train their peers. Discipline is a key requirement for one to be recognised as a mentor and a role model.
The VGGS mentors play a key role in motivating girls from humble background. The standard seven and eight girls within Rongai and Mogotio areas are great beneficiaries. They are encouraged to study and pursue higher education. This is essential because most of them would lose hope and drop out of school. Early marriages affected most them. The self-esteem of the primary school girls has been boosted. Some of them have been sponsored to join VGGS. Their exemplary performance enables them to join university after the four year course at VGGS.
New girls who join VGGS settle very fast due to the support they receive from the mentors. Therefore mentors play a major role during the orientation period. They guide and direct the newcomers. This is in line with our leadership policy. Our girls are supposed to portray leadership skills in every aspect of life. As they work closely with each other harmony and understanding among them is inculcated strongly. They treat each other as sisters. VGGS is a home away from home for all the members of the VGGS family.
